When in Rome…

Playing with strings on the log cabin blocks reminded me that I had most of the blocks I need for a paper-pieces throw quilt, so I pulled the finished ones out, and figured out which ones I needed. I decided to add 11 blocks for a 5×7 layout. Crockett was really intent on lego and […]

Moments

It feels like it’s been so long since I loved quilting, but I miss it, and I’m trying to force myself back. These are little moments of joy that I need to remember. Basting: I don’t love the actual process of crawling around on the floor, but I do love the meditative aspect. As I […]

Scandi bandi

My friend Julie says everyone is doing it, so of COURSE I had to join her on the Scandinavian Star bandwagon. I mean, they’re JUST SO CUTE. And… um…. I have plenty of fabric scraps. I could probably make enough to cover a christmas tree lot. 😜 Instant gratification! Back to actually basting!

Alliteration: Bungus and Bag help me baste a baby quilt

cats and quilts

Oh, hey, look, a quilt post! One of my cousins is having a baby, and I serendipitously found some cute retro novelty fabric I’d cut up for a quilt…. 15 years ago? So I grabbed all the blues and white-ish ones (with, of course, a few random bright yellows just to mix it up), and […]

Shamrock quilt

It’s finished! I made this little baby quilt as a fundraising item for Lyons Academy of Irish Dance (D and the Bean both dance here). My friend Sandi, @missplanner on instagram, was kind enough to share her shamrock block dimensions with me, so I whipped out the top in one night (patchwork is cotton, solids […]

Sewing with leather: success!

I dream of leather bag making, but something always to go wrong. Skipped stitches, broken thread, etc. I think this time, since I stayed SUPER simple, I actually achieved success!   I used Isocord (Isacord?) machine embroidery polyester thread for all the sewing. it’s super fine, but WAY strong.   I put in a […]

All green scrappy trip along. Finished!

Strips of all my greens, and greens donated by friends. Bordered in Kona Kiwi, backed in Spot On Extra Wide (in green, obvi), and bound in Kona textured, blue. Quilted in off-centered “organic” concentric circles with green Wonderfil 50wt. The boy is VERY happy.

Birthday/camp sewing

This boy turned 7 this week. he requested a full Luke Skywalker/Jedi costume. Pants (pegged so they bunch up), Tunic (over a white t-shirt, and with the flappy vest-y bits sewn on to a simple shirt), and, of course, the jedi robe. he also “needed” (I.e. has been hinting since Xmas that he would really […]

Funbot Dress!

I had a little bit of Funbot fabric left over after making all the stuffed robots, so I decided my Bean needed a dress. She LOVES robots.   she couldn’t hold still, she was so excited.   I used my HennyPenny dress pattern, modified a little bit to have a back opening and a […]

*Giveaway closed, Random Number Generator chose 3 winners, (53, 3, 39)* Thanks for participating! Do you know Carrie? I met her a few years ago at the Long Beach Quilt Show, while walking around, shopping, with my friends, Jules and Tess.  Carrie is AWESOME (and so is her mother). We were drawn into the SUCH Designs […]
