Shamrock quilt
It’s finished! I made this little baby quilt as a fundraising item for Lyons Academy of Irish Dance (D and the Bean both dance here). My friend Sandi, @missplanner on instagram, was kind enough to share her shamrock block dimensions with me, so I whipped out the top in one night (patchwork is cotton, solids […]
Bigfoot Quilt (top)
ok, so there’s a new wave on Instagram (I’m @ramonarose over there), led by Katy and Dana, to make Scrappy Bear Paw quilt blocks (to be made into a quilt, obv.). I have been lusting after the beautiful blocks, but I’m really really really trying to finish up my long ignored WIPs, so I was […]
How I spin multi-points.
Hey Lindsey, this is how I spin my triangle points. 1. I figure out how to sew 1/2 the block (so I have a straight 180 line.) (sample quickly made with leftover bunting triangles, so they’re not perfect, but they were already cut and near my machine). Finger press (or iron press, but I’m too […]
All green scrappy trip along. Finished!
Strips of all my greens, and greens donated by friends. Bordered in Kona Kiwi, backed in Spot On Extra Wide (in green, obvi), and bound in Kona textured, blue. Quilted in off-centered “organic” concentric circles with green Wonderfil 50wt. The boy is VERY happy.
Beautiful Blythe
I found my perfect fabric. It’s called Blythe, by Janet Dunn & Rebecca Bischoff for Robert Kaufman. it’s amazeballs. ROSES. Bright, saturated colors. Scattered polkadots. I am IN LOVE. SO, I jumped on the Quilt-As-You-Go Amy Butler Weekender Bag train, and made this. It’s all Blythe, in two colorways (park and garden). I used some […]
Modern Bliss
I used some scraps from sewing up a Modern Bliss lap quilt to make a little mug rug: I’m taking a Craftsy class (strip paper piecing) to improve my skills, and this was one of the blocks in the class. I feel much more confidant with my paper piecing now, and am bummed that I’ve […]
#scrappytripalong and a cat
I couldn’t resist. Some peeps on instagram have started a quilt along with scrappy Trips Around. The world, and the blocks looked so cool! I made 4 today, and I love them. Each block is 7×7 2.5 inch squares, with kona ash as the center diagonal (because I had a roll up of kona ash […]
Merry Xmas to me!!!
I’ve had an industrial Singer straight stitch garment machine for years, and it sits in my living room and is used daily. But I can’t quilt on it. I also have a Bernina Artista 730 which I DO quilt on, but only small stuff. um. I don’t do a lot of small stuff. I have […]
Baby Crockett at the Circus
I really really love the fabrics Marie Perkins of Print and Pattern does for Robert Kaufman. LOVE. As soon as I saw the mock-ups for The Circus, I got inspired. I got the fabrics, and cut them up in July? June? no clue. OMG it was tedious cutting. I totally lost steam. But when I […]
Scrappy Radiance for the Bean
sooo, remember that Radiance baby blanket? here’s a bigger one, traditionally pieced (ie, not “quilted as I went”), basted, and quilted. i made it using a 1/2 yard bundle of 7 (i think) shades of pink/wine. I purposefully was a little sloppy/scrappy making this, sewing some pieces wrong side up, not perfectly squaring up the […]
