For an adorable architect

My friend Erik is an architect/urban planner. (he’s also one of my daughter’s godfathers). when I got this amazing new fabric (Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander), with blueprint-y prints, I knew I needed to make him something. He’d once commented on a crayon roll of the Bean’s, saying it’d be great to have something like that […]

KCWC finale: Vintage patterns….

C and I had a morning date to the antique flea market, and while he was busy inspecting and buying a vintage cash register (seriously, for work), I stumbled upon these gems. Priced at $2-3 each, I absolutely could not resist. none of them are the right size, but I can grade the size 1’s […]

Luckiest girl in the world.

I opened my door this morning to find THIS on my front porch: 3 Kona roll-ups, dark, classic, and bright… and these GORGEOUS colors of Quilter’s Linen (which might be my most favorite fabric basic EVER) I have plans for the roll-ups, and am awaiting instructions for the QL. It’s gonna be a good day.

Inspiration…

I’ve been shooting iPhone pics of designs I like, and I thought I’d share them… Um. Yeah, maybe I shouldn’t show pics I’ve taken while driving at high speeds. Moving right along… (pun sort of intended) I finished the Swoon quilt for Robert Kaufman yesterday, and, um– I might have gotten carried away with the […]

Ring Around the Rosey grows up.

So, earlier this summer, I designed and made this dress for the Bean: Lauren really liked it, and asked for it in her size. she gave me the fabric, and here it is: she chose the fabric, and now I covet a matching top… Shot Cotton for the main fabric, and an Art Gallery print […]

Embroidered Quilt, Block 1

A few weeks ago, at the Long Beach International Quilt Festival, I fell in LOVE with an amazing antique quilt (only $800!) from the 40’s. (Sold by Cindy’s Antique Quilts, though this particular one isn’t on the website) I love the blocks, I love the embroidery, I love the quilting. But I don’t love yellow, […]
