Scandi bandi
My friend Julie says everyone is doing it, so of COURSE I had to join her on the Scandinavian Star bandwagon. I mean, they’re JUST SO CUTE. And… um…. I have plenty of fabric scraps. I could probably make enough to cover a christmas tree lot. 😜 Instant gratification! Back to actually basting!
Alliteration: Bungus and Bag help me baste a baby quilt
Oh, hey, look, a quilt post! One of my cousins is having a baby, and I serendipitously found some cute retro novelty fabric I’d cut up for a quilt…. 15 years ago? So I grabbed all the blues and white-ish ones (with, of course, a few random bright yellows just to mix it up), and […]
Easy Easy Hard
I saw this pattern last year right after Dinovember and I just KNEW it’d be the perfect thing for the dinosaurs to leave at the end of this year. Dinosaur Dig So I made these cute little T-rexes, made a mess of my yarn to set the stage, ordered up some yarn, and started knitting. […]
Presentation and deadlines…
As I was frantically knitting this morning, and thinking about how bad I am at presentation (wrapping, arranging, etc) I realized that maybe i can shift my thinking from “I suck at wrapping,” to “I expand so much energy in the making of gifts, (and I’m usually down to the wire, knitting or sewing in […]
Xmas makes
a purple-haired doll for the Bean (Patchwork Penny from Wee Wonderfuls) a Katie Kitty (from the same book) an Amineko for D (from Hello My Name is Amineko), which was even more of a hit once he saw the book. now he’s totally into posing and photographing the cat.
Teacher gifts
I made a bunch(13) of little zippy bags (using THIS tutorial from noodlehead) and then inserted gift cards and The Bean gave them out to all her preschool teachers (and she and D gave on to their Irish dancing teacher)… Leftovers were sent to cousins/sister…
Scrappy Radiance for the Bean
sooo, remember that Radiance baby blanket? here’s a bigger one, traditionally pieced (ie, not “quilted as I went”), basted, and quilted. i made it using a 1/2 yard bundle of 7 (i think) shades of pink/wine. I purposefully was a little sloppy/scrappy making this, sewing some pieces wrong side up, not perfectly squaring up the […]
Lamqg holiday potholder swap
We had a holiday potholder swap at the last LAMQG meeting. I made 2 for my swap partner, 1 that I fussy cut and paper pieced, then appliqued and quilted: from the back: and one that was an experiment: I took the idea of a Somerset star and made it have more points: my partner […]
A stocking for baby Crockett
baby crockett needed a stocking… i had WAY too much fun making this one… but improv piecing all those little letters (finishing at 1.5″ square) was super time consuming, so the rest of us used our old stockings. will make similar ones for the rest of us this year…. hopefully. All made with scraps and […]
Ty Pennington pillowcases (finally)
I finally got around to sewing pillowcases for our bed (per C’s christmas request) this morning. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long, since all 5 were made in under an hour… Killian gave them his full approval, I assume, since he slept on them ALL day. Of course, he “supervised” all of […]
