Scrapbuster-3-large-block.jpg

Everyone seems to be scrapbusting in the new year, and I admit, I’m caught by the bug too. I have MUCH too much fabric. The problem is, most of the designs I like either rely on lots of a main fabric (which defeats my goal of using up lots of leftover fabric) or rely on a color scheme to provide unity. But I don’t have lots of a particular line/color to use up, because I have so much random stuff from my own sewing and the sample work I’ve done… SO, I spent weeks ruminating, and came up with these ideas:

and then I (or rather C, upon whose opinion I rely), chose this one:

which is made of blocks like this:

to test it, and make sure I liked it, I whipped out this doll quit for the Bean.  It’s a quarter of the large block…

I used linen in this sample, but I have a whole roll-up of Kona Snow for the real version.

I used this gorgeous Just Dandy fabric, and I bound it with pink (bubblegum?) Kona…

it’s backed in hot pink corduroy…

I quilted inside each square, and “organic” lines on the linen…

I’m hoping to whip out a couple more this weekend for the Beach School auction, because they’re super cute…

and I think it’s a successful design for scrap busting, so I’m slowly cutting my stash into pieces to make the master scrapbuster…

If anyone wants to bust along with me, leave a comment, and I’ll post instructions… it’s pretty easy…
