The boy-o put in a request for lots more sailor pants, which I love for summer, because a) they cover his knees so he gets cut up less, b) they look really stinkin’ cute on him.
Right? I cut out a big pile on Sunday, and sewed a lot yesterday, so today he has 5 new pairs.
All are Robert Kaufman fabrics… the top is a nice light weight denim, then Essex Linen, then navy, burgandy, forrest Twill. (love this stuff, super strong, but not too heavy for littles)
All the pants have bright, semi-coordinating RK scraps (leftover from making this quilt) for the waistbands and pocket linings, and contrasting buttons (except the middle pair, I can’t find anchor buttons (per his request) so I’m still looking)
the backs all have butt-pockets, with various decorative top stitching, (and using the denimĀ selvageĀ for the jean pair), and all have elastic waists (except the jeans, because I ran out of elastic)
CLEARLY, I had a lot of fun choosing colors and buttons and topstitching thread…. I LOOOOOOOVE sailor pants on little boys. and despite being huge, mine is still a little boy.
hopefully these will last through the summer, at least….
